… Breathtaking … Magnificent … Sensational!
Inspired by SCQG quilter Janis Magnusson and artist Ed Hill, the 2025 Quilt Show featured an exciting opportunity to profile quilting and artistic excellence in a new spotlight.
This inaugural Creative Collaborations Challenge show category featured quilters who paired with artists to create a textile piece inspired by a particular artwork. The results were simply magnificent and treated our guests to a new level of creativity on display!
Many of the artist-quilter duos were on hand to recount the collaboration process much to the delight of the steady stream of visitors admiring the final pieces. After very enthusiastic feedback about this show element we look forward to more collaborations in 2027!
Judging Criteria: Each Guild member has collaborated with an Artist from a non-fabric medium (e.g., painting, sculpture, photography, etc.) to create a fibre arts piece inspired by a particular work from this Artist (with permission); composition & techniques are up to this team; no larger than queen size; Artist’s piece (or a rendering, photo, drawing of) is on display with the quilt creation.
